Nigeria’s Aviation Pride Soars as Air Peace Takes Flight to London Heathrow

On October 26, 2025, London Heathrow Airport witnessed a historic moment as Air Peace, West and Central Africa’s largest carrier, launched its Abuja–London Heathrow service.
This marked the return of Nigeria’s national colours to one of the world’s most prestigious aviation hubs after over a decade. The ceremony, held at Terminal 3’s check-in area, drew dignitaries from Nigeria and the UK, including senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Chief Customer Officer of Heathrow Airport, Mr. Ross Baker, welcomed guests and described the development as a milestone that deepens connectivity between Nigeria and the UK. “This is more than a new route; it symbolises a stronger, more connected future between our two nations”, he said.
Air Peace’s Executive Director, Ms. Nnenna Onyema, hailed the launch as a powerful reaffirmation of Nigeria’s aviation resurgence. “Today, that silence is broken — our flag flies again”, she declared, adding that the launch is “a national statement of confidence and resilience”.
The airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, described the new service as a defining milestone for both the airline and Nigeria’s aviation narrative. “Today’s launch extends that dream from the heart of Abuja to the heart of London”, she said.
The Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, credited the Honourable Minister’s Five-Point Aviation Agenda for creating policies that enable indigenous carriers to thrive sustainably.
In his keynote address, Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo,  commended Air Peace for placing Nigeria on the global aviation map once again. “Air Peace’s success here is not merely a business accomplishment — it is a matter of national pride”, he said, applauding the airline for demonstrating that Nigeria can compete globally and win.
With this launch, Air Peace reinforces its role as a catalyst for national development, driving connectivity, tourism, and trade while proudly showcasing Nigeria’s aviation potential on the world stage.
