MTN Nigeria CEO to head Francophone Africa operations
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc said on Monday that its Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, will take on an additional role within the MTN Group as vice-president for Francophone Africa, expanding his mandate beyond Nigeria.
In a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, company secretary Uto Ukpanah said Toriola will oversee MTN’s operations in Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, the Benin Republic, and Congo Brazzaville, while continuing to lead Nigeria’s largest telecom operator.
“Dr Toriola has extensive prior experience in the role, having served as VP for West and Central Africa at MTN Group Limited,” the company stated.
Toriola became CEO of MTN Nigeria in 2021.
The firm also announced that Ferdinand Moolman, a non-executive director, will step down from MTN Nigeria’s board effective October 31, having been appointed CEO of MTN South Africa, starting November 1.
A former CEO of MTN Nigeria, Moolman has held several senior leadership positions within the group. “The board wishes to express its appreciation to Mr Moolman for his immense service to MTN Nigeria and success in his new role,” the statement added.
MTN Nigeria said its board remained committed to sustaining growth and delivering long-term value to shareholders and stakeholders, despite the leadership shifts.
