Maritime Expert underscores critical role of trade to economic development
Deputy National President of NAGAFF (Seaport), Ambassador (Dr) Afam Chukwuma, has emphasized the critical role of trade empowerment in fostering sustainable national growth.
Dr Chukwuma spoke as a distinguished guest at a high- level stakeholders’ engagement themed “Empowering Trade, Enhancing Growth,” recently put together in Lagosnby the Congress of Nigeria Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP).

media professionals, maritime stakeholders, policymakers, and development advocates essentially to explore strategic pathways for enhancing the country’s maritime sector.
Drawing on his extensive experience in international diplomacy, economic development, and maritime strategy, the guest outlined a comprehensive blueprint for revitalizing Nigeria’s trade corridors.
The proposed measures include policy reforms, infrastructure development, and public-private collaboration, with focus on modernizing port operations, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and embracing digital innovation.
