Lagos FRSC Special Marshals set agenda with new leadership

frsc-logoThe Lagos State Special Marshal Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has sworn in newly elected executives who will steer the affairs of the voluntary arm of the FRSC for the next two years.

The new executives, elected and inaugurated on Saturday, succeeded the outgoing leadership, led by Olusegun Olaitan.

The Special Marshals, a voluntary wing of the FRSC, comprise individuals who dedicate their personal resources and time to promoting road safety nationwide, primarily through advocacy and public education.

Among those inaugurated is Olabisi Dennis, who emerged as the new State Coordinator.

Tokulah Joseph will assist as Deputy State Coordinator, and Joann Otaru as the State Secretary, with Ezekiel Ojabulu serving as her assistant.

Kehinde Afolabi was sworn in as the Financial Secretary, while Adeyemi Janet will serve as the Treasurer, among others.

During the swearing-in ceremony, the Lagos State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, reiterated the importance of safety as the core mission of the organisation.

He said, “The essence of the whole thing is to ensure safety. Don’t forget, FRSC has three tiers: the regular marshals, the special marshals, and members of the road safety club.

“The Special Marshals are those offering voluntary services. All our efforts are geared towards ensuring the safety of lives and property. Together, we can move Nigeria forward. Safety is everyone’s business.”

Hamzat also advised the new executive members to uphold the mandates of the FRSC and conduct themselves with discipline and integrity.

“They should follow their guidelines and mandates as stipulated in the FRSC Establishment Act, so they can be useful to the society that they represent.

“They are established to complement the efforts of the regular marshals. They should not flout orders or engage in activities that are not in tandem with public expectations. They should always lead by example,” he said.

Speaking after his inauguration, Dennis expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve, pledging continuity and progress.

The newly sworn-in coordinator said, “I stand before you today with a heart overflowing with gratitude and humility to accept the responsibility and honour of serving as the State Coordinator of the Special Marshals in RS2.1, Lagos.

“This moment is not just a personal milestone but a testament to God’s unfailing grace, divine orchestration, and undeniable presence in our affairs.”

Olaitan reflected on his tenure with a sense of fulfilment and appreciation for the support he received.

He said, “I am filled with a mix of gratitude, pride, and a sense of accomplishment. I thank the sector commander for his support.

“Though we started on a very rough road, we’re happy to have built a harmonious relationship. I hope the new executives will jealously guide it.”
