GOVERNMENT SHOULD REGULATE CHURCHES, MINISTRIES IN NIGERIA  TO ENSURE SANITY –Prophet Adeoye

CDD FACT CHECK: Is FG mulling an agency to monitor churches? | TheCable
A clarion call has been made to the Federal Government in conjunction with religious bodies to urgently roll out comprehensive policy  to standardise the certification and establishment of Churches i and Ministries in Nigeria to ensure sanity.
The General Overseer of Christ Church Evangelical and Miracle Ministries [CEM], Prophet Segun Adeoye, who stated this is an interview with OPEN BUSINESS newspaper insisted that such policy which is overdue would provide a lasting solution to the worrying decay in the social fabrics of the country.
Adeoye whose Church’s head office is in Lagos with branches in Ogun state said that such criteria should spell out minimum qualifications for  church and  Ministriy leadership,  establishment, dressing codes for leaders and members as well as appropriate  environment for their location, amongst others.
These have become necessary in new of the  proliferation of Churches and Ministries across the country with attendant evil dispositions of  their leaders and members.thst are largely uncontrollable., he noted.
     According to Prophets Adeoye ,
‘’ Lack of standardisation for churches explains sharp differences in doctrines especially on the issue of Marriage, dressing, sacrifice and influence  of money which have direct and indirect  negative impact in the society “
He continued that many churches and monasteries have  today become glorified abattoirs where  human beings particularly members are  butchered for evil sacrifices and organ harvesting, while some leaders regard the holy places as extortion centres .
Prophet Adeoye warned that if such negative tide is not arrested now, in the next few years, the country may turn to something else where polygamy would become   unwritten  policy at the detriment of the Christendom.
The Corporate Affairs Commission [CAC] merely registers churches and ministries as legal entities without recourse to  the functions and qualifications of those that set them up,  as well as  their daily operations, he said.
    According to him, as a result of the ugly situation, disgruntled characters such as yahoo-yahoos boys, ritualists and  other criminal elements have  infiltrated the  space  as a booming business shops to reap off gullible citizens in need of Spiritual solutions to their problems;
He stated that some evil servants of God nowadays threaten members with  dreadful revelations in order to extort huge money from them in return for solutions, while the eaders and members indecently  dress to lure themselves for prostitution.
‘’ Those who desire to own churches or ministries should have verifiable track records of where they are coming from and possibly recommendation letters from their mentors as evidence of adequate training to impart religionus teachings to  their faithful “, he noted.
This could be something like licence indicating that a would-be Pastor or Prophet or Evangelist has received training from certain Ministry or Church and is eminently qualified to own a church or ministry of his own, Adeoye further stated.
According to him, this should eliminate the practice of fake miracles in churches and ministries which some dishonest leaders indulge iin to gain cheap popularity and attract members to fleece.
On the issue of servants of God being involved in partisan politics, Adeoye advised that churches and  Ministriies should be left alone,.
But he noted that there is nothing wrong for any servant of God who gets useful Godly revelations from sharing  same with the public.
He advised  the leaders to avoid  the conversion of churches  and Ministries to their  family property such that at death or  event of permanent disability, their children start laying claim to the assets and succession  plan.

‘’’To me, that is wrong and unchristian because church is supposed to be church of God and not of prophet A or B”, Adeoye warned.

These abnormalities are taking place because of the absence of policy and corporate  governance guidelines to regulate and supervise ownership and operations of churches  and ministiies in the country, he further added.

Prophet Adeoye is the G.O of a Lagos based church with 24years of doing the work of God.
