Gombe NSCDC officers wives unveil women’s safety initiative

NSCDC logoThe Gombe State chapter of the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association is set to roll out a pioneering Gallant Women Drivers training programme aimed at empowering women with driving skills and horning their security awareness level.

Arewa PUNCH reports that the announcement came during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Women Affairs,  Asma’u Iganus, led by CDOWA Chairperson Hajiya Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz.

Desk Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps Dorcas Dogara, who introduced the delegation, said the initiative would “boost women’s skills and confidence, particularly in transportation and security diplomacy.”

She also highlighted, “We want to open new doors for women,” Dogara told the Commissioner

“This programme will equip them to participate more actively in sectors where they are often underrepresented.”

Commissioner Iganus, in her response, threw her weight behind the project, saying: “This is a game-changer,” she said. “It aligns perfectly with our vision for women’s empowerment. The Ministry will provide full support and connect you to stakeholders who can help bring this to life.”

Thus, she urged participants to take the training seriously, stressing that it has the potential to transform not only individual lives but the state’s approach to women’s participation in security and mobility.
