Ganduje, Abure, others meet over INEC voter registration
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje; his counterpart in Labour Party, Julius Abure, and other party chairmen converged on Abuja on Monday for the second quarterly consultative meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Ganduje was accompanied to the INEC headquarters by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
This was disclosed in a terse statement posted on the official X account of the APC.
The statement read, “The National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, attended the Independent National Electoral Commission Second Regularly Quarterly Consultative Meeting, held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday.”
An aide to the APC chairman, who preferred not to be mentioned, added that the Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, also briefed the party chairmen on the Continuous Voters’ Registration ahead of the governorship polls in Ondo (November 16) and Edo (September 21) States.
“Prof Yakubu also set a deadline of May 20 for political parties contesting in the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election to submit names of their candidates,” the source added.
The registration exercise is expected to commence from May 27 to June 5, 2024.
