FAAN Boss Promises Certification of Other Int’l Airports Early 2025, as NCAA Recertifies Abuja, Lagos
The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has said that she will work at preparing international airports in the nation not yet certified ready for certification.
Kuku made this promise yesterday while receiving certificate for the Aerodrome Recertification of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Murtala Muhammed International Airport ,Lagos.
The certificates, which were presented by the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, marked an important milestone in the aviation sector under the leadership of the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus keyamo.
The NCAA Director General thanked Kuku for her visionary leadership and remarkable achievement in closing up the safety gaps while praising her for providing the quality workforce to achieve this in less than one year of her stewardship.
Najomo noted that the achievement is remarkable and hopes that the closing up of gaps and certification of the other airports will be more seamless.
It would be recalled that the two international airports Aerodrome Certificates expired in 2020, and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, an extension was granted the FAAN management, which has successfully ended with this recertification.
Kuku, in her speech, acknowledged the effort of her untiring workforce, airport managers and the NCAA team for their resilience and good collaboration.
Acknowledging her great pride and deep sense of humility in this achievement, she promised to move ahead with the certification of the other international airports early next year.
The ceremony took place at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
