NCS Honours DCG Charles Orbih with Heartfelt Send-Off, Birthday Tribute
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday, December 5, 2025, hosted a combined farewell and birthday celebration in honour of Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) Charles Orbih, who has just retired after serving as DCG in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Service (FATS).
The colourful event, held at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja, brought together senior officers, family members, friends, and well-wishers.
Widely respected as a disciplined and meticulous administrator, DCG Orbih formally bowed out after decades of impactful service across key operational and administrative roles.
In his remarks, the retiring DCG expressed deep gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, the management team, and colleagues across departments and Commands.
He acknowledged that his successful career was built on teamwork, discipline, and a shared commitment to national development.
DCG Kikelomo Adeola, who has taken over the FATS portfolio, praised Orbih’s exemplary leadership and mentorship, noting that many officers had grown under his guidance.
“During this period of rest, we pray you enjoy it with your family. You will end well. You’ve ended well in the Nigeria Customs Service, and you will end well in life,” she said. “Don’t ever change who you are. Our prayers will always be with you.”
DCG Dera Nnadi, overseeing Strategic Research and Policy, described Orbih as a humble and highly knowledgeable officer who consistently put the institution first, highlighting his key role in major policy reforms.
DCG Timi Bomodi, responsible for Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation, also commended Orbih’s discipline and calm approach to complex administrative matters, noting that his professionalism had set a national standard for officers.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt goodwill messages and reflections from colleagues and family members, celebrating a career marked by integrity, service, and unwavering dedication.
