Nasarawa NSCDC apprehends man over defilement of two minors

NSCDC-logo-960×540The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has arrested a suspected serial rapist, Hussaini Shuaibu, popularly known as ‘Abati’, for allegedly defiling five minors in different locations of the state.

The arrest was made following credible intelligence reports and complaints lodged by concerned residents, which led operatives of the command to track and apprehend the suspect.

This development was contained in a press statement made available to Arewa PUNCH correspondent in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Wednesday by the NSCDC command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Jerry Victor.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the acts at different times and locations, targeting vulnerable minors.

The statement noted that the NSCDC State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, strongly condemned the dastardly act, describing it as inhumane, criminal, and a grave violation of the rights of children.

Umoru reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC in Nasarawa State to the protection of minors and other vulnerable persons, stressing that the Corps will not tolerate any form of sexual violence in the state.

According to the statement, the suspect is currently in the NSCDC custody and will be diligently investigated and prosecuted accordingly in line with the law.

“We are assuring the public that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion to serve as a deterrent to others with similar criminal intentions.

“The Commandant further called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to be more vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

“He also encouraged victims of sexual abuse to speak out, assuring them of confidentiality and necessary support,” the statement further read in part.

The NSCDC Public Relations Officer urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies, assuring that the Corps remains steadfast in its mandate to protect lives, property, and uphold public safety across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
