NAFDAC threatens to seal non-compliant water factories in Kebbi
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned table water producers in Kebbi State to comply fully with manufacturing and safety regulations or risk being shut down.
The North-West Zonal Director of the agency, Dadi Nantim Mullah, issued the warning during a meeting with stakeholders and members of the Association of Table Water Producers, ATWAP, in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the engagement was aimed at ensuring total compliance with NAFDAC regulations across all stages of production.
“It is my belief that the stakeholders here today will henceforth comply with NAFDAC regulations because they now have a better understanding. This training is designed to increase their knowledge and improve compliance with the requirements for producing quality packaged water,” Mullah stated.
In his remarks, the Kebbi State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Muyideen Folorunsho Suleiman, revealed that he had sealed off about 100 packaged water factories upon assuming office due to various infractions, including lack of registration, expired licenses, and substandard production facilities.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of ATWAP, Babangida Aliyu Bande, assured that members of the association would fully comply with NAFDAC’s standards on packaged water and food production.
